Pronounced: Pia-cè-re (Dizionario Italiano Garzanti). Peeah/chay/ray (Roberto's Americanized version of the word).
Meaning: Pleasure, commonly used to say 'Pleased to meet you.' Piacere Erica (I am pleased to meet you Erica). Piacere is another of my favorite words. It is used when you are introduced to others and lets them know you are happy to meet them. It's also used, in a slightly different form, to let one know you like something, as in Mi piace, which literally means to me, it is pleasing, but commonly used to say I like it. Note: I show the pronunciation of each Word of the Day as found in Dizionario Italiano Garzanti, followed by Roberto's (Americanized) pronunciation of each daily word.
