Come si chiama?
Pronounced: Cò-me si chia-mà (Dizionario Italiano Garzanti). Co-may sea keya-ma (Roberto's Americanized version of the word).
Meaning: What is your name? Come si chiama signorina? (What is your name young lady?) I beg you to use this question at the first possibility. And, when you do, expect most Italians to answer, Io? (I?). Simply smile, say Si and wait for them to introduce themselves, which they will do. And, when they do, say Piacere, which means pleased to meet you and state your name. Mi Chiamo Roberto or Mi chiamo Maria or whatever your name is. Now, use the person's name frequently. It will vastly aid your Italian and make you feel very, very good. After all, you now have an Italian friend.👍 Phrases and full sentences are not available on audio. You probably noticed that the word Vorrei was published yesterday and the day before. While it is one of my favorite Italian words, repeating the word was caused by a glitch in the system, a glitch which I am trying to sort out. Grazie per la tua pazienza. I am working with my website developer to get the site working properly again.
